London-based  Franco-Japanese restaurant Wazen, which only opened in King’s Cross last November, is to close blaming the Brexit vote, despite the booming hospitality sector and a surge in tourists to the capital attracted by a fall in the value of sterling.

The  Tokyo-based owners cited “uncertainty” over Britain’s future for the closure.  General manager Ken Urata said the decision had been taken by the restaurant’s head office in Tokyo: “The weaker pound, means the price of food ingredients from Japan have already started to rise,” he said.

The Acton Street restaurant closed for 2 weeks during August.
