Kushi named Best Local Restaurant Group

24th November 2021

The family-owned, award-winning chain of Kushi restaurants in East London and Essex, has been named Best Restaurant Group – East of England at the Asian Curry Awards.

This latest prize marks an incredible year for Kushi, which was also feted at the Asian Chef of the Year Awards in June and again at the Asian Restaurant Awards in August.

“I have every faith in my talented chefs and dedicated front of house staff,” said Uddin, adding, “But the key to winning these awards is getting onto the shortlist in the first place, so your team get to showcase their skills to award judges.”

Kushi’s loyal fan base voted online for the restaurants in great numbers to ensure it made the cut.

Kushi restaurants are well known for their support for local charities. During lockdown the group also provided over 15,000 free meals to frontline NHS staff, key workers, the elderly and vulnerable. The generosity of Kushi owner Sharif Uddin was officially recognised at the beginning of September, when he was presented with a special ‘Local Community Hero’ award from Baron Sheikh at the House of Lords in September.

On British Curry Day, on 1st December Kushi will be supporting the #BackTheBhaji! charity initiative, donating £1 for each onion bhaji sold.

Kushi does not serve alcohol, although customers are welcome to bring their own drinks, with no charge for corkage.

Kushi offers free home delivery within a 4-mile radius. Takeaways not ready for collection within 20 minutes from Sunday to Thursday, are free, excluding tandooris. No artificial food colourings are used.

The many vegan dishes offered, reflect the plant-based origin of most Indian cooking. There are also healthy grilled, protein-rich meat dishes available.
