Cyrus Todiwala’s Assado restaurant at the Hampton by Hilton London Waterloo hotel has closed.
The 108-cover Portugese-fusion restaurant which opened in 2014, has been replaced by Greenport, a burger, pizza and roast chicken restaurant.
Todiwala blamed for the closure on a lack of demand from the hotel’s US guests who prefer more American-style food, which was at odds with the Indian-influenced kitchen and says he will be open a signature restaurant in London’s Canary Wharf area in the coming months.
Todiwala runs Café Spice Namaste in London and Mr Todiwala’s Kitchen at Heathrow Airport.
